Nickel tetrakis(triphenylphosphine), commonly used as a catalyst or reductant in organic synthesis reactions, can catalyze hydrogenation reactions of olefins and reduction reactions of halogenated hydrocarbons. It is also used to generate reductive nickel intermediates in organic synthesis, such as in the preparation of carbonyl compounds.
